I'm making Katrina van Tassel's windmill costume for a Tim Burton themed party at the end of October, and have the screen accurate jacket fabric. But it'll be a bit too warm, and dare I admit it "precious" to use for my podgy self.

So I'm making a trial run, using this striped corduroy from FFC #23171

In 2.5 days I'll know if I've won the fabric for Katrina's skirt.  Now it's vintage unused curtain fabric, and 9.8 metres of it!!! So I'll be able to make a petticoat from the same fabric and still have leftovers. Depending on what fibre it is, then I'll be able to scheme other costumes or petticoats.

A friend of mine is having a Tim Burton themed party at the end of October and I've dithered over what to make.  I have the jacket fabric for Katrina Van Tassel's windmill dress and just bid for some vintage curtain fabric on ebay that'll be fine for the skirt. If I win the ebay item, that makes my costume choice very easy. I'll know in 6 days

I've been looking out for new Ma Dola fabric - a royal blue cotton - to make the dress version of her costume. I hadn't found anything in the easy to get to fabric shops, not even at a higher price than I'd like to pay ( Read more... )
